Sažetak
The rupture of pipelines in gas distribution systems may cause gas leakage into the atmosphere. This is an important economic, safety, environmental and engineering issue. From a technical point of view, this issue requires a solution that will reduce gas loss and environmental hazards. In gas distribution systems, this has been commonly addressed by installing gas-stop valves. These elements stop the adverse gas flow in case of pipeline failure. Dynamic characteristics of gas-stop valves are accordingly the focus of the present study. The computational modeling of gas-stop valves was performed for unsteady flow conditions in a simplified pipeline system. A hydrodynamic model of one-dimensional isothermal gas flow was used. The results indicate the need to simulate the dynamic features of gas distribution systems with gas-stop valves in case of uncontrolled gas flow.
