Sažetak
Recently, several studies dedicated to the urbanism of the medieval cities of Dalmatia, such as Zadar, Šibenik, Trogir, Split, and Dubrovnik, have emphasised the importance of written sources, particularly notarial documents. This paper aims to present the results of similar, interdisciplinary research on late medieval Rijeka, specifically, its defence structures. The research is based on the analysis of the book by Antonio de Renno from Modena, Rijeka’s notary from the mid-15th century, and its comparison with the archaeological findings and other historical sources. No previous study of Rijeka’s late medieval urbanism has adopted a similar methodology.
