Sažetak
This final thesis deals with the portrayal of women in the sub-genre of horror film, the slasher film. The first slasher was released in the late 1970s and, since then, slasher films gained a lot of popularity. However, slashers are criticised a lot, mainly because most of them are non-innovative and have similar plots. Furthermore, they are often criticised because of how women are represented in them. Many scholars and viewers argue that women are portrayed negatively and falsely. On the other hand, it is important to emphasise that slashers finally introduced a strong female character into the world of horror, the Final Girl, a woman who fights to end prejudices. Slasher films are, therefore, of great interest to many scholars, especially feminists.
