Sažetak
The data are relevant to the recently revised American blood pressure guidelines that recommend lower blood pressure targets for overall cardiovascular risk reduction. Patients with atherosclerotic vascular disease and stiffened peripheral arteries are particularly dependent on blood pressure for adequate coronary artery and peripheral artery perfusion. Blood pressure reduction below a critical threshold may predispose to adverse coronary and peripheral vascular events. In conclusion, patients with PAD are especially vulnerable to low blood pressure and may require different targets compared to patients without PAD.
