Sažetak
The end of the First World War presents one of the crucial crossroads in the world history. This fact was particularly evident on the East Adriatic coast. The structures of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy collapsed and new perspectives of the structure of government appeared on the horizon. Naturally, the dynamics and the direction of these changes were driven by the outcomes of the Great War, the agreements signed by the great forces, local processes, but above all by the development of peace negotiations in Paris. This paper directs focus to the analysis of the attitude of the British diplomacy towards Italy during post-war period. The fundamental purpose of this paper is to outline the way Great Britain regards the Italian demands in terms of resolving the Adriatic Question. How the British diplomatic and military structures on different levels perceived the Italian arguments, particularly within the context of the demands presented by the local Croatian political elites on the East Adriatic coast or the diplomacy from Belgrade.
