Sažetak
Alkali treatments have a considerable influence on electrokinetic and adsorption properties of cotton fibres. Alkali treated cotton fibres are more negative than untreated one. Obtained results indicate decreased amount of cationic surfactant for achieving Point of Zero Charge (PZC) of alkali treated cotton fibres. Anionic surfactant, sodiumdodecyl sulphate and cationic surfactants, cetylpyridinium chloride and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide are adsorbed on untreated and alkali treated cotton fibres. Adsorption of surfactants show an important role of zeta potential but other forces have a prominent role too. The action of the forces depends upon the type surfactants and surface characteristics of cotton treated.
