Sažetak
The concept of "cat-state", qualitatively speaking, refers to a quantum superposition of two classical states of opposite quality, as suggested in the thought concept of the "Schrödinger's cat" as a cat in a superposition of "dead" and "alive" state. By the advancement of experimental techniques, this concept came to experimental reality, nowadays primarily in the field of optics. One of the potentially interesting utilizations of such superpositions is to store and transport quantum information. In this work we propose a model of realization of the cat-states within the field of nanomechanics. The proposed NEM device consists of two bulk superconductors which are tunnel-coupled to a Cooper pair box qubit which can also perform mechanical oscillations between them. We demonstrate that a bias voltage applied to the superconductors may generate states represented by the entanglement between charge qubit states and quantum cat-states, i.e. a superposition of the coherent states of the nanomechanical oscillator. We characterize the formation and development of such states in terms of the corresponding Wigner function and entropy of the entanglement. Also, we propose an experimentally feasible detection scheme for the effect, in which the average current that attains the specific features created by the entanglement is measured. The utilization of coherent states may constitute an important tool in the field of quantum communications due to the robustness of the multi-phonon states with respect to external perturbation, compared to the single-phonon Fock state.
