Sažetak
Heroin abuse has been followed-up in Croatia since the begininng of the eighties. The war (1991), post-war period and transition caused large uncrease in drug supply and demand, what caused the epidemic of heroin addiction. Specialized teams of the networks of Centres for Outpatient Treatmnet of Addiction are authorized to include an addict into the maintenance program since 1991. In the Republic of Croatia treatment system for heroin addicts provide very complex treatment program. Pharmacotherapy by methadone to addicts is given by general practitioner. Paper also includes epidemiological data and results of scientific researches.
