Sažetak
The aim of the action research was to achieve essential changes in the teaching of mathematics in the second and third grades of primary school based on the features of quality mathematics teaching determined by a systematic review of relevant and recent research. Such an approach ensured that the changes introduced were not superficial, but essential. In the action research, an effort was made to achieve the appropriate quality of students' learning in mathematics classes, as well as their satisfaction with the teaching and motivation for learning mathematics. During the realization of the research, the changes that were tried to be realized in classes during one educational period were systematically monitored. Among other things, the lessons were recorded and analyzed using the COPUS protocol (Smith et al., 2013). Critical friends also took part in monitoring and reflecting on the lessons. We tried to understand, describe and interpret the processes that happened with the students in class, but also with me as a teacher. As a result of this research, there have been changes in my attitudes, knowledge and practice as a classroom teacher. Numerous action researches have been carried out with the aim of improving mathematics teaching, but studies combining the results of a systematic literature review and action research have rarely been published. That is why this research is specific.
