Sažetak
Background: Practitioner Development frameworks, containing a structured assembly of behavioural competencies, have become increasingly popular in professional education driven by the need for transparency in the training, development and professional recognition of healthcare professionals. Aim The aim of this research was to adjust and validate the International Pharmacy Federation- Pharmacy Education Taskforce Global Competency Framework (GCFv1) to be relevant for Croatian community and hospital pharmacists. Methods Following translation and back-translation of GCFv1, an iterative process of twelve rounds of consensus development panels was undertaken in the period from February to July 2014. Further, it was evaluated for content validity to ensure consistency of terminology and overall content. Members of the consensus development panel were representatives from regulatory and professional body agencies, academia, hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies and industry. Results A suggested competency framework with a high degree of relevance was generated for community and hospital pharmacists. The adapted framework consisted of 96 behavioural statements, organised into four clusters, addressing 1) pharmaceutical public health, 2) pharmaceutical care, 3) organisation and management, and 4) personal and professional competencies. When this framework was mapped against the 100 statements listed in the Global competency Framework, 29 could be found in the adapted framework, 44 were revised, 28 were newly introduced and 27 were excluded from the original framework. Conclusion The Croatian Competency Framework is evidence- based, validated by experts and individual pharmacist opinion and tailored to meet Croatian pharmacy specific needs.
