Sažetak
Introduction: Professional training for pharmacists programme, based on the Croatian Competency Framework (CCF), enables students to further develop competencies acquired at the Faculty, in their everyday work. CCF assists as practice support tool for pre-registration or newly qualified pharmacists providing multiple source feedback from peers, mentors or tutors for informal and formal evaluations and appraisals Aim To compare students' self-assessment with students' pharmacists-preceptore assessment at the end of the 6-month Professional training for pharmacists programme. Methods: In this prospective, observational study, all students attending Professional programme training for pharmacists in the period from January 2016 to March 2017, and their pharmacist- preceptors were recruited. The data were collected by using the CCF, validated tool for assessment and self-assessment of pharmacists' competencies (1). All students were assessed and self-assessed themselves at 6 months on a four-point scale indicating how often they demonstrated each behaviour, i.e. "rarely "sometimes", "usually" to "consistently". Results: Students (n=129) that self-assessed themselves and were assessed by their pharmacists- preceptors were predominantly female (n=111, 86, 0 %), with a median age of 24 (23-27) years. In all competencies, except "Organization" (3, 41 ± 0, 822 vs 3, 62 ± 0, 532, respectively) and "Finance management" (3, 02 ± 0, 991 vs 3, 06 ± 0, 931, respectively) the average grades awarded by pharmacists-preceptors were higher than those from students' self-assessment. Significant correlations (p<0.05) between self-assessment and preceptors' assessment were observed only in the following competencies: "Compounding of magistral and galenic preparations" and "Workplace management and competency claster "Organization and Management Competencies". Conclusion: A substantial level of incongruence between the self-assessment and preceptors' assessment of students' competencies suggests a lack of correlation between what students perceive they know and what they are recognized by preceptors to know. This assessment process might be inaccurate and may arise from both, more critical generations of students studying according to a revised curriculum or a lack of standardized measures to assess students' competence.
