Sažetak
The occurrence of cancer in the female reproductive organs has not yet been decreased in any part of the world and it still produces various grave problems of health, economic, demographic and psychosocial nature. The psychosocial factor is often so under-represented in clinical practice. Due to the site specificity, diagnostics and therapy methods for genital cancer go deep into the essence of patient's privacy, and the consequences of treatment, particularly of radical and surgical treatment for the advanced disease, greatly damage patients' physical integrity and reproduction potential. Early detection of female genital tract cancer and the application of sparing treatment methods are therefore important, not only from the clinical point of view, but also for maintaining the favourable psychosocial status of these patients. In that respect, the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in psychosocial oncology has also been emphasised.
