Sažetak
For seamless public transport operations, which are crucial for sustainable urban mobility, quickly available and durable bus stops are desirable. But the problem with conventional solutions such as poured concrete are longer replacement time and short service life. In extreme cases, when bus mass and frequency are significant, asphalt ruts and bulges appear, additionally reducing safety and performance. Therefore, to reduce replacement time and prolong time between replacements as well as reducing disruption time, an innovative technology such as precast concrete is a promising solution. In this paper, the application of precast concrete is demonstrated through several successful road construction projects in Berlin, Germany, which are still in use today. The experience from the projects is demonstrated in detail, from choosing appropriate bus stops, designing precast concrete elements, preparing for construction, to the instalment in the pavement itself. The results for different parameters, comparable with traditional methods, showed a significantly shorter installation time for precast concrete elements compared to traditional poured concrete, which ensures a quick return to normal bus transit operations, preventing large-scale deviations of transport demand. In addition, the costs were compared, either for replacements or constructing a brand-new bus stop. And although the results show that the costs for precast concrete are higher, for a sustainable urban mobility, quick readiness of the pavement to ensure seamless public transport operations on roads with high transport demand justifies the implementation of this innovative technology.
