Sažetak
Pedagogical competence of almost all groups of parents is often tested for a number of objective (migration, natural disasters, wars, etc.) and subjective reasons (uncertain existence, personal characteristics of parents and children, etc.). Parents in socially depressed families are even more difficult and need adequate and timely social support to be able to perform their parental function as well as possible. The primary aim of this study was to “illuminate” the space of pedagogical competence of socially depressed parents (through self-assessment of mothers and fathers) and to include the appropriateness of using questionnaires in this population. A survey was conducted on a sample of 76 mothers and 68 fathers, recipients of social assistance. Confirmatory factor (CFA) and discrimination analyses in AMOS 28 were used in data processing. The results showed that, unlike previous research in the general population, the space of parental pedagogical incompetence was much better illuminated than that of both mothers and fathers. In addition, mothers showed a significant correlation between the total score on the scale and the level of income (R = 247), while fathers showed a significant negative correlation between the total score on the scale and age (R = -.293), with fathers in employment achieving higher scores on the scale than the unemployed. Other sociodemographic data are not significantly correlated with the total score on the scale. The method used to collect data using the questionnaire is not the optimal solution for the population of socially depressed parents regarding fit indexes of AMOS analysis.
