Sažetak
The paper addresses the issue of naturalizations as a way of citizenship acquisition in the Independent State of Croatia. The research question we deal with in the paper relates to legal regulations and practice of naturalizations. Having in mind the fact that the topic is still not researched adequately, the paper relies mostly on archival sources available in the Croatian National Archive and on relevant legislation. The author argues that the naturalization functioned as a two-tier phenomenon that was going on central as well as on local level. In the paper analysed norms but also practice of naturalizations.
