Sažetak
On the first pages of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum 2020, the European Commission states that it strives to "build a system that manages and normalises migration for the long term and which is fully grounded in European values and international law". The process of agreeing on migration policies in the European Union is extremely complex. The reasons are multiple, but the key ones are those that refer to the relationship between the sovereignty of the national community and the goals of the supranational community. In addition, major problems for the implementation of an acceptable model of migration management and the ever-present anti-immigrant attitudes among the citizens of the European Union. In this paper, we will present the model of migration management in the European Union in the context of the relationship between the man (human rights)- the nation-state (sovergenity)- the supranational community (?). All this will be analyzed in the context of liberal democracy as the ruling political paradigm of the European Union. Special emphasis will be placed on the analysis of the relationship between migration policy, which is more national policy, and migration management, which is more supranational policy.
