Sažetak
In 1777 Ruđer Bošković observed sunspots, determined theirs positions and the solar rotation elements by his own methods briefly described here. We repeat his calculations of the mean solar time, sunspot positions and solar rotation elements using both the original Bošković’s equations and equations adapted for modern computers. We repeat the calculations for two values of the obliquity of the ecliptic, the Bošković’s ε = 23◦28′ and the interpolated one, εcorr = 23◦27′47.1 ′′. Using his 1777 observations Bošković obtained the following results for the obliquity of the ecliptic (solar inclination), i5 = 7◦44′ and i136 = 6◦49′ , longitude of the ascending node Ω5 = 70◦21′ and Ω136 = 74◦03′ and periods sidereal T ′ = 26.77[days] and synodic T ′ ′ = 28.89[days]. These original Bošković’s results we analyzed and compared with repeated calculations. Our results confirm the validity of Bošković’s methods and the precision of his calculations.Additionally the paper presents the solar differential rotation determination using all 1777 observations by Ruđer Bošković.
