Sažetak
The COVID-19 pandemic had a negative effect on all economic sectors, but its impact, with the imposed travel restrictions, was felt most strongly in tourism sector, where significant drops in revenues and serious solvency problems was encountered by all companies. It is well known that Croatia is one of the EU countries whose economy largely depends on tourism, which means that 2020 had the most serious consequences for the Croatian economy. Since the country’s large tourist companies were found to be more resilient to the unpredictable effects of external factors, this paper focused on small hotels. The aim of this study was to examine the negative effects the COVID-19 pandemic exerted on small hotel businesses throughout the Adriatic coast of Croatia. The research was conducted on a sample of 42 micro and small companies (hotels) in the Adriatic coastal regions, in the period from 2019 to 2021.
