Sažetak
Vascular anastomosis, although commonly performed in com- plex procedures, is a sophisticated surgical procedure that requires advanced skills obtained through specialized training. Surgical training necessary to acquire these skills is often tedious and involves a steep learning curve. The quality of anastomosis, assessed by long- term patency, determines the success of surgical procedures involving vascular anastomosis. Nowadays, the stand- ard method for vascular anastomosis is a handheld suture tech- nique originally described by Carrel [1] in 1902, who is still widely recognized for his pioneering work in vascular suturing and organ transplantation.
