Sažetak
Emerging Technologies are new technologies that are currently developing or will be developed in the next five to ten years that will significantly impact the economic and social environment. Currently they have limited practical applications in entertainment, education, healthcare, and industry, and introduce new types of user interactions that have practical implications for people with disabilities in terms of accessibility. The use of emerging technologies in serious games, designed to provide the player with knowledge or skills with entertainment elements, leads to innovative tools that add value to the educational process by increasing the user's immersion, motivation and easier connection of the learning object with the real world. The presentation will give an overview of recent research related to the development of serious games based on Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). ICT-AAC Competence Network activities and challenges will be presented in the context of 11 years of design, development and training in the field of mobile and web-based software solutions for communication and education, which are publicly available and widely used. The potential of new technologies, particularly augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), in the field of AAC and rehabilitation, will be presented along with the developed VR and AR prototypes for education and speech and language improvement. Presentation will discuss the multidisciplinary context and an example of the requirements elicitation process for the serious game prototypes based on emerging technologies, which involved professionals from the fields of information and communication technology, education, and speech and language pathology.
