Sažetak
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV, Human gammaherpesvirus 4) is an ubiquitous virus from a Herpesviridae family. It infects over 90% of people worldwide and causes malignancies such as Burkitt lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and nasopharyngeal cancer. The majority of infections in children are asymptomatic but can present as infectious mononucleosis, most frequently among young adults. EBV infects naive B-lymphocytes, activates them and induces their proliferation. Virus attaches to B-lymphocytes through gp350 glycoprotein which interacts with complement receptor 2 (CR2) on their surface. In this study, the variability of BLLF1 gene that codes for gp350 glycoprotein was analysed among pediatric patients with infectious mononucleosis
