Sažetak
In the context of an endeavor in systemic redefinition of school space, testing universally applicable models was explored. They look at what contemporary educational space brings to children, parents, neighborhoods, the city. How can a school become a didactic tool in itself, how can it contribute to framing and connecting communities, how can it reciprocate the needs of contemporary society? The workshop developed from an aim to answer these questions in five strategies, focusing on one dominant theme but including elements of the others. The strategies employed several common premises: liberating the pedestrian ground floor, connecting the school to the trajectories of neighborhoods, including the school grounds into the city’s green infrastructure, imprinting the pedagogic idea onto not only the classroom but also the in-between space, the threshold of school and community. Each strategy acts as a device for addressing or augmenting these needs. The chapter shows results of one of the five studios led by guest professors at PoliMi in 2022 on the topic of re-inventing schools.
