Sažetak
Children were equal members of society in Late Bronze Age societies in the southern Carpathian Basin according to the archaeological records from cemeteries. They were buried like other community members, with the same mortuary practices – individual pyres and individual graves. These mortuary practices can be seen at the beginning of the Late Bronze Age. There were some changes in urn selection in the 11th century BC. The different individual status of a child in its family and community could be observed through the funerary rites – grave features and items during the last centuries of the Bronze Age. Changes in society at the end of the Late Bronze Age increased the value of children, according to the traces in some transitional mortuary practices. Children were probably the guarantee of transmitting family or community values to the future in an age of changes. The child grave under tumulus 15 from Dolina, dated to the 9th century BC, will be the case study for this hypothesis.
