Sažetak
Božidar Kante's talk on Kant's aesthetics, in late April some ten years ago at the Philosophy of art course at IUC Dubrovnik was one of the first lectures on Kant's views on art that I heard. As with most young students, so too were my views on Kant shaped by his stern and relentless ethical theory which seemed to care little, if at all, for the pleasurable and enjoyable life. Imagine my surprise when I discovered, through Kante's lecture, that Kant not only cared deeply about beauty, but that he saw it as a chief ingredient in the humanity's journey towards the kingdom of ends. Kante's lecture was as motivating as it was instructive, and soon afterwards I found myself re-tracing his arguments scattered throughout Kant’s third Critique. Writing this piece as a way of honoring professor Kante's career and research is a welcome opportunity for me to join my views to his on one particular topic: that of the ethical relevance of art. Following Kante, I too will assume that art has relevant moral dimension, regardless of Kant’s explicit endorsement of preeminence of beauty of nature
