Sažetak
Introduction of digital mixing consoles for multitrack recording and music production has a lot of important advantages comparing to analogues, because of their today's technological degree. Some of them will be highlighted here. Powerful digital signal processing (DSP), realized by means of digital filters implemented into the "floating point" DSP microprocessors and controlled by appropriated software, enables a realization of outstanding dynamic and frequency characteristics in sound processing. Some measurements of THD and frequency response at one channel module confirm mentioned. Microphone preamps, placed directly into the studio space in form of stage boxes, enable an analogue microphone signal amplifying with high S/N value, splitting of each amplified microphone signal for "Public Address" (PA) system supplying, conversion to digital form and transmission in time division multiplex (TDM) form via fiber optic or coax to the main DSP unit. Gain control of each microphone input is done from appropriate channel module by means of separate control circuit based on "Ethernet" network. Built-in integral input/output (I/O) routing matrix enables the desired switching of all input and output signals directly, which eliminates a requirement of classic patch panels.
