Sažetak
Exploring the views on the moral education of the moral philosopher Nel Noddings and those of the Catholic Church, this paper offers a comparative perspective into those two distinctive yet relatable traditions. Firstly, the article analyses Noddings’ views on the question of how to raise a young person to become a good human being, capable of moral life. Additionally, it discusses her ideas on the proper design of an educational system that supports the moral growth of students. Noddings offers a moral perspective which emphasizes the significance of care and caring relationships for the positive moral development. Alongside Noddings' philosophical views, the paper presents inputs from the Catholic Church on those questions and its educational agenda. It investigates how the Catholic Church as an important religious and educational voice deals with the questions of moral education of students. Based on the official documents of the Catholic Church on education, the paper examines its rich moral tradition as well as its limitations. The final section explores the similarities and differences between these two approaches to moral education.
