Sažetak
This paper investigated the strength and stiffness of T-shaped mortise and tenon joints with stub tenon. PVAc glue was utilized to assemble the beechwood joints with an interference fit. The strength was carried out by measuring the maximal applied load and calculating the ultimate bending moment. Stiffness evaluation was conducted by measuring displacement and calculating the ratio of applied force and displacement along the force line as the ratio of bending moment and rotation angle of the joint. The results were compared with the results of typical mortise and tenon joints. The results showed the effect of different widths of the stub tenon on the strength and stiffness of T-shaped joints. Also, significant differences were revealed between the strength and stiffness of T-joints about different nonsymmetric positions of stub tenons, tenon shoulders, and directions of the force. The investigation showed that the intensity of mechanical properties of nonsymmetric joints is dependent on stub tenon position and load modes.
