Sažetak
In philological literature, 19th century is perceived as a period of harmonising almost all graphic, orthographic, and grammatical inconsistencies. The beginning of the century was marked by the systematisation of the writing system, whereas in the second half of the century the priority was given to orthography and the standardisation of grammatical levels. This paper presents certain orthographic solutions found in Kraglski Dalmatin (Il Regio Dalmata), the first administrative newspapers published in Croatian at the beginning of the 19th century. Despite the fact that the local scope of the newspapers may indicate a dominant use of the Dalmatian orthography, the period was characterised by many orthographic commissions whose aim was to systematise the writing system, which led to the assumption that the corpus would likely contain certain orthographic inconsistencies.
