Sažetak
The paper titled „European Economic and Monetary Union – The Process of Economic Building of the European Union“ discusses the economic aspects of European integration starting with creation of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951., then the forming European Economic Community in 1957. and then up to transforming itself in contemoprary European Union in 1992. and introducting Euro as official currency in 2002. In this thesis the autor tries to show the proces of European economic integration as constelation of a numbers of factors like: guiding idea of „European fathers“, intertanional situations and crises, internal situations in member states and their mutual relations and interests, all in total known as „two level game“. All that made the process of building EMU lasts five decades. It's evident that in that process members could not rely on altruism and nice wishes formalised in the phrase „United Europe“, but in negotiations and global positioning, where main guiding principle was own economic and political interest.
