Sažetak
Road traffic safety is generally affected by three primary factors, road users, vehicles and infrastructure. Based on a questionnaire survey conducted in Croatia, this study focused on road users. The main goal was to investigate the road users' perception of road traffic safety, education, and accident prevention. According to the results, road users' perception is that road traffic safety isn't safe (68, 32%) and needs improvement. This is supported by statistical data on the significant number of accidents with fatal consequences on Croatian roads. In addition to their opinion on road traffic safety, the road users share their vision of possible improvements. Several safety measures are suggested to increase road users' behaviour and decrease road traffic accidents. Additionally, improving driving schools' education and promoting road safety prevention measures, especially among young drivers, could reduce road traffic's dangerous driving behaviour and decrease a yearly number of accidents.
