Sažetak
Research interest for the field of Big Data is high and developing almost simultaneously with the development of new technologies (Cope, Kalantzis, 2015). Although Big Data may be connected with the terms like security, privacy or ethics there are growing number of researchers that are associating it to the context of education (Eynon, 2013 ; Baker and Siemens, 2014 ; DiCerbo and Behrens, 2014 ; Cope and Kalantzis, 2015) as well as media literacy (Hobbs, 2010 ; Silverblatt et al, 2014). Big Data can give a whole new dimension to educational system in general mainly by offering many new possibilities, opportunities and challenges that can also have influence on media literacy. Two completely new areas, Educational Data Mining and Learning Analytics, developed in the field of Big Data and through them it is possible to discover a lot of different ways of using the great potential of Big Data in education (Means, Padilla and Gallagher, 2010 ; Baker and Siemens, 2014 ; Berland, Baker and Blikstein, 2014). This paper will offer an overview of achievements and results in this field as well as highlight the major opportunities and challenges and ways of how they can influence the concept of media literacy. The paper will also offer the guidelines and examples for the possible ways of implementing Big Data in the educational system with special focus on primary schools.
