Preface of the book »Pathways to a Sustainable Future for Humanity: Ivo Šlaus' Vision« addressed the contemporary challenges as the world is getting more complex. On the one hand, this significantly increases the severity of the challenges like war and epidemics. On the other hand, it also provides new opportunities for intelligent and creative solutions to these challenges. The workshop, therefore, addressed the global challenge of creating pathways to a better future for humanity, which has the ability to refocus the development of our society toward a more sustainable future. It was also focused on Ivo Šlaus' vision of critical global challenges, global leadership, nuclear abolition, global security, new economic theory, human development, human capital, international scientific collaboration, employment, indicators of human welfare, and other related topics on the pathway to a sustainable future society. Today, when the world faces the threats of COVID epidemics and world war when nuclear missiles are on alert, such innovative solutions are crucial for the survival of human civilisation.
