Sažetak
Pressure Sensitive Labels (PSL) are used today on a wide range of household products, food, cosmetics. Given their prevalence, there is a clear need to reduce the proportion of synthetic polymers in favor of biodegradable materials. Therefore, the design of PSL is becoming increasingly desirable, so it is necessary to examine the quality of the print on biodegradable materials, as well as different protection possibilities of the print itself. Yellow lines of different widths (0.1 pt, 0.5 pt, 0.7 pt, 1 pt) and orientations (horizontal and vertical) were printed on two different commercially available PSLs, both of which are based on fibers from agro-industrial by-products (grapes and citrus). Printed samples were covered with UV filtering overlaminating polyester film and underwent a 96-hour exposure to UV light. Quantitative analysis was performed with PIAS imaging device. The modulation transfer function of prints before and after exposure to UV radiation was determined, as well as the characteristics of printed lines (width, blur, contrast, raggedness) with respect to the direction of printing.
