Sažetak
The EC-VIP-MC 2003 was organized by University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Department of Radiocommunications and Microwave Engineering together with The European Association for Speech, Signal and Image Processing - EURASIP. The conference was sponsored by the EURASIP, and co-sponsored by IEEE Region 8, IEEE Croatia Section, University of Zagreb, and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb. The EC-VIP-MC 2003 should provide all participants with the latest results of research and development in the rapidly progressing field of the video / image processing and multimedia communications. The International Program / Review Committee after reviewing process has selected 131 submitted papers for oral presentation. These research papers were written by 277 authors. In the review process about 65% of the submitted papers were accepted. We are sincerely grateful to the reviewers who helped up to attract high quality contributions. The International Program Committee has also invited four outstanding experts from abroad to present the state of the art in the advanced areas of video / image communication fields. The authors of the papers presented in EC-VIP-MC 2003 coming from the following 41 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, USA, Yugoslavia. The fact that 41 countries are represented in the EC-VIP-MC 2003 indicates the strong international nature of the conference as well as successful scientific results.
