Sažetak
This paper sets out to analyze the relationship between religion and faith and how they are intertwined in Brian Moore’s five novels: 'The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne' (1955), 'An Answer from Limbo' (1962), 'Catholics' (1972), 'Black Robe' (1985) and 'The Colour of Blood' (1987). The paper attempts to show how each of the selected novels reflects the author’s attitude to religion and faith as developed through different stages: a rejection of conventional Catholicism, an exploration of one’s own secular beliefs, and a return to an open interest in Catholicism. The paper also shows the change of focus in Brian Moore’s novels from the psychology of characters and meanings of individual beliefs to more public and political aspects of the Catholic Church.
