We were delighted to read the profile by Richard Lane describing Professor Norman Sartorius as “psychiatry's living legend”. In the comprehensive overview, the author wonderfully presented the role and contribution of the professor to the field of psychiatry over a period of more than 50 years, providing a holistic view on the professional life of one of the most influential people in this field. The profile briefly mentions the role of Sartorius in providing training to professionals and we would like to add his seminal work with early career psychiatrists globally. We believe that portrayals of the professor would benefit from first-hand experience of those who are lucky enough to know him as a teacher, mentor, and a role model for professional growth.
