Sažetak
If we understand rhetoric as the art of persuasion, we can understand sonic rhetoric as persuasion via the sonic or prosodic features of speech. Prosodic, or as some scholars call them, paralinguistic or vocalic features, are the nonverbal part of speech that accompanies a verbal message. To understand the potential persuasiveness of prosodic features we must refer to the wide body of research conducted by social psychologists, linguists, and nonverbal communication scholars, which provides empirical evidence for the influence of prosody on communication in general.
