Sažetak
Shortly after Augustus’ death in 14 CE, the Roman Empire witnessed at least two military rebellions. According to the literary sources, troops revolted in the provinces of Germania and Pannonia, respectively. With three legions involved in the Pannonian mutiny (the 8th Augusta, the 9th Hispana, and the 15th Apollinaris), this episode proved to be a considerable challenge to the newly-established Tiberius. The disturbing events are well-attested in the historical narratives of Tacitus and Cassius Dio, whereas Velleius Paterculus and Suetonius provide little more than a few short notes. This article will focus on the historical evidence for the Pannonian mutiny, dealt with in Book 57 of Dio’s Roman History.
