Rapid seismic vulnerability assessment ; A macroseismic model with vulnerability index ; Behavior modifiers
Sažetak
This paper elaborated on the seismic vulnerability of 105 buildings located in two municipalities of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The construction period coves a wide range from old structures constructed from 1918 until 2014. To determine the level of buildings’ seismic risk, minimum data are required like building typology which was obtained as a result of visual site inspection as well as available buildings design documentation from which additional data was extracted. In this analysis besides the building type, additional modifiers were taken into account in the calculation for the vulnerability assessment of existing buildings. As no detailed information is available the application of the macroseismic model using the vulnerability index (VI) is feasible and acceptable. Identified buildings were masonry and reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Regarding the structural type, three masonry structural types were recognized: unreinforced masonry (URM) with flexible floors (M3.1), URM with rigid floors (M3.4), and confined masonry (CM) classified as M4, and two RC structures: reinforced concrete moment frames (RC1), and reinforced concrete dual structures (RC4). According to the seismic hazard (PGA = 0.18g) which can be ranged in the intensities VII and VIII the behavior of the elaborated buildings was from moderate to significant respectably, and severe damage for M3.1 buildings to damage for slight damage for RC4 for both intensities.
