Sažetak
The presentation aims to show the blended learning experience in higher education, namely in three first-year English courses at the Centre for Foreign Languages at the University of Zadar. The intention is to present blended learning as a thoughtful integration of classroom face-to-face learning experiences with online learning experiences. Three case studies will be presented and described with a special focus on potential pedagogical contributions for each case. Although all three courses share some common interest in integrating online instruction in their regular lessons, they have essentially experimented with the new approach for some particular reasons. In Case 1 the blended approach with students from various study groups was seen as a solution for parallel work on different topics, texts and materials. The second course (Case 2) has reached for the new teaching approach for the main reason of distance learning – primarily to enable students who cannot attend their classes regularly to follow the programme, and in addition, to facilitate the work of a large group (60 students). Case 3 course has seized the vast opportunities of specific vocabulary learning using online tools as additional help in regular course work. Finally, this has been done with the intention of possible future implementation of blended learning in other courses at the Centre for Foreign Languages with respect to the three English courses presented here.
