Sažetak
In mid-2014 the staff of the Archaeology Department of the Zadar University conducted test underwater archaeological explorations at the prehistoric site along the islet of Ričul in the Pašman channel, in the vicinity of the village of Turanj. In the explored probe, measuring 3x2 m, a rich, 1 m thick cultural layer was discovered with pottery being the dominant find. It included rounded pots, vessels and flat bottom cups. The handles stand out by their form and in additional to their functionality they often play a decorative role. Along with the ceramic weights, a deer horn needle for netting was also found. These are archaeological finds typical for sea oriented communities. The maritime component is complemented by other, standard prehistoric economic activities. In other words, finds of land fauna, primarily, bones of domestic animal made up the largest part of bioarchaeological material and the olive pit from the bottom of the explored probe represented one of its earliest traces on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. The typological and technological features of the discovered archaeological material indicated the use of the settlement with the port structure in later parts of prehistory and the time of origin was dated by 14C analyses of a excavated pylon to the period from 1500 to 1395 cal. BC (1430 cal BC).
