Sažetak
As a result of a lack of dedication and coordination among scholarly, educational and cultural stake holders on the dance scene in the Republic of Macedonia, in the second half of the 20th century, the "honour" to disseminate knowledge about traditional and folk dances, or to create cultural (dance and music) myths, to categorize, renew of "freeze" the folk dance tradition, was given to a highly developed network od folk dance scene participants, led by the only state folk dance ensemble formed in 1949, Tanec. In the process of standardization, the folk scene led by Tanec, imposed its version of what the national dance and music tradition is, resulting in generations of young people who, through the informal education in cultural/artistic associations, have learnt as a national repertoire the stage modified version of the dance tradition, modelled by proffesional ensemble Tanec.
