Sažetak
The first two decades of the 21st century have been marked by the rule of technology - the Internet, smart devices, and social networks have become an inevitable part of human life and it can be said that people of today experience their reality through an additional dimension - the virtual one. The digital world has given people insight into the multitude of information and content, and thus the opportunity to express their opinions, views, and criticisms. Thus, among other things, discussions about languages and all aspects of language took place on the Internet. One of them is the attitude towards the beauty of the language - the German language is often the target of criticism and ridicule by users around the world who express their disapproval of this language in the form of comments and funny videos. This paper aimed to find out where the negative phonaesthetic attitudes towards certain languages originate from, i.e. what makes them unattractive to the listener's ear, using the example of the German language for obvious reasons. The main question is, therefore, whether there are external factors that cause individuals to have a negative attitude towards a certain language, or whether it is simply a matter of some languages being inherently auditory "unattractive". For this, it was necessary to comment on relevant content from the popular social networks Instagram and Reddit, and a survey was conducted among individuals who were offered, based on several videos, to assess which language they liked or disliked. Research has shown that - when certain factors are "reversed" and German is presented in a slightly more positive light than is normally the case on the Internet, this language ranks high, alongside other popular European languages.
