Sažetak
As a continuous and consensual process of improving the educational system, every severe educational reform should be preceded by basic pedagogical scientific research. The crucial question is whether this is the starting point in Croatia as well? Given the current crisis of education (predominance of educational content and concern of values), as well as possible lasting consequences for the future, modern changes in the educational system in Croatia are not only the result of academic research but also (responsibility) of educational policies the influence of (daily) politics, unprincipled coalitions-agreements and consequently, hasty, incompetent and unenforceable decisions. This statement is significant in Croatia today when the need for changes in the traditional school arises from the creation of a new discourse, where the pedagogical way of thinking (postmodern theories) and school structure are changing: from (over) emphasized cognitive to social relations, democratic participation, acquisition of competencies, collaborative learning, solidarity and respect for / permeation of diversity (pedagogical practice) - where the school is real - life, not just imaginary preparation.
