Sažetak
Evidence suggests that sleep deprivationassociated with night-time working may adversely affectperformance resulting in a reduction in the safety of surgeryand anaesthesia.OBJECTIVE Our primary objective was to evaluate anassociation between nonelective night-time surgery and in- hospital mortality. We hypothesised that urgent surgeryperformed during the night was associated with higher in-hospital mortality and also an increase in the duration ofhospital stay and the of admissions to critical care.
