Sažetak
Variability of wind power plant generation (WPP) is the result of wind intermittence and has to be compensated in order to keep the stability of the power grid. For this purpose, gas turbine power plants can be used. As some of the previous research presented at this conference has shown, using these facilities causes additional CO2 emissions. In addition to that, the question is how to choose ones i.e., which criteria have to be taken into consideration. In this paper, based on Croatian WPP production annual reports issued by Croatian Transmission System Operator Ltd. (HOPS d.o.o.), the necessary power output of the gas power plant is analysed. Data has shown that the power generation of Croatian WPPs varies significantly through the analysed period and an appropriate solution is suggested. Also, economic evaluation of using these plants is made especially from high investment cost, a small number of working hours, and poor part load efficiency point of view.
