Sažetak
We approach graphene in the tight-binding approximation. When strain is introduced as a relative change of positions of points inside a body, the initial graphene hamiltonian changes and from there, we can extrapolate components of gauge field that contain a mechanical strain in itself. Generating a homogeneous pseudomagnetic field by strain engineering is very complicated and involves either applying in-plane forces normal to the edge of a very oddly shaped graphene sample, or by a complicated force distribution with triangular symmetry applied to a graphene disc. The main requirement for a homogeneous field is that the curl of the gauge potential remains constant. My work consists of attempting to find a way to generate a pseudomagnetic field using phononic modes with the goal that such a field would be energetically favourable to lead to a new ground state of broken initial symmetry with a reconstructed Fermi surface. This work is still in process, so in my poster presentation I plan to demonstrate all my current troubles that come along the idea of generating a pseudomagnetic field in a new way, with the hopes that such a field would be favourable for the reasons listed above.
