Sažetak
In this paper, some examples of visualisation of the hypotheses referring to the medieval urban fabric of Trogir and Dubrovnik will be presented, aiming to prompt discussion on several overreaching themes of the conference. The visualisations are based on data collected from various sources, which were made to serve different needs in different periods and therefore they require to be comprehended separately. Studying the relationships between the data leads to the formulation of the hypotheses. Their visualisation depends on the quality and quantity of the data, as well as on the definition of applied principles and aims. The examples that will be presented in the paper are made by scholars for scholars, which narrows down the discussion about the aims, while still offering a range of principles which are all defined amid the art historian’s intentions to discover what a medieval city looked like and a well- argued visualisation. The overreaching themes to be discussed based on these examples are: documentation vs. research-focused interpretative 3D, possibilities of integration of 2D and 3D, argumentation for the diversity of standards within the scholarly work, and pros and cons of well-founded groups vs. individual scholars which are highly dependent on an administrative reality.
