Sažetak
This presentation is based on the analysis of the body as space for rethinking female identity in Russian contemporary detective fiction. I intend to apply feminist and non-feminist theories of the body to the novel by Alexandra Marinina titled Confluence of Circumstances (Стечение обстоятельств). I will attempt to prove that she, although initially refusing to proclaim herself a feminist due to the long history of Soviet propaganda which labeled feminism as a western capital product and therefore negative, nonetheless shows affinity towards subverting essentialism and culturally constructed stereotypes about women. The body, if we are to look at it as generally, similar to physical and abstract space, provides the author with an opportunity to uncover female subordination.
