Sažetak
This paper deliberates the question of the Kurdish people in the Middle East. It focuses mainly on the Kurdish population in Turkey. By examining the opinions of various schools of thought and the local people, which include Kurds and other ethnicities, a logical opinion will be formed. Comparing the past and current interactions between the Kurdish and other people, mostly in Turkey, a conclusive understanding of the future of the Kurds will be achieved. This includes analyzing policies and conduct during the Ottoman empire, as well as those in modern Turkey. Examining religious differences will further expand the context Kurds find themselves in. Plainspoken acts, such as articles in the Turkish constitution, or subtle acts, such as changing names of some places, are scrutinized to understand direction the Kurds are heading towards. Actions of the current administration of the Turkish government in affairs abroad, as well as actions of other nations and organizations abroad, and how they affect the Kurdish people is also explored. The prospect of a secession of the Kurdish population in the area is also addressed by comparing it to secession theories and how they can be applied to the situation of Kurds today. All this information will be gathered and solutions for the Kurds in Turkey and elsewhere will be determined.
